Ooty: The majestic “Queen of the Hills”
Ooty is one of India's most popular hill stations and is also known as the "Queen of Hill Stations". Nature has bestowed Ooty with lush green forests, scenic landscapes, pristine lakes, and tea plantations. This lovely destination is home to Nilgiri mountains that stand tall with never-ending verdant meadows. It has everything that makes a hill station popular. The toy train of Ooty, also known as Nilgiri Mountain Railway that runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must be experienced. The train covers a 42 km distance with 108 curves, 16 tunnels, and 250 bridges.
Some of the most beautiful attractions in Ooty are wonders of nature such as Ooty Lake, Kalhatty Falls, Doddabetta Peak, Pykara Lake, and many other lakes and waterfalls. Another notable place of interest is the Botanical Garden, which houses an infinite number of species of rose and other flowers.
