Money Heist S5 Part 2: The hit series gives other shows a run for their money - Prune

Like in the previous seasons, there’s no stopping the gang from stealing our hearts in the emotional season finale of Money Heist (La Casa De Papel). As soon as the second part of the final installment dropped on Netflix on December 3, the reactions it received were no less than a tearful goodbye from the iconic heist thriller’s fans from around the world. And deservingly so, as the Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 hit the mark with extraordinary performances and an engaging plot from start to finish.

In part 1, we witnessed the death of Tokyo, who gave her life to save the rest of the gang from getting caught by the police forces. And we also saw former inspector of the National Police Corps Alicia Sierra give birth to her daughter in The Professor’s hiding place. From then on, part 2 follows the story of the rest of the characters, as they prepare for their biggest robbery of gold yet in the Bank of Spain. So, setting their emotions aside, the remaining gang gets back in action, and we see them in their red costumes one last time.

While the absence of Tokyo was felt throughout the episodes, she lived through the way the gang took on the heist mission, which felt like a homage to her and Nairobi. And Tokyo’s voiceovers also helped ease our sad heart from the earlier part, a little bit at least. But of course, the heist doesn’t come without its own set of obstacles, such as Colonel Tamayo, Professor’s animosity with Alicia, and the conflict within the team. Overall, the journey will keep you on the edge of your seat as every moment is an attention-grabber at its best. You won’t find yourself turning away from the screen even for a second.

Whether or not the robbers succeed in the final five episodes is the question that will remain on your mind. And like the previous seasons, you will feel the wins and losses of the characters personally, which is one of the best things about this show. Once it pulls you in emotionally, it doesn’t let go. And it suffices to say that this is one of the best endings we could have from La Casa De Papel. From the first heist in season two to the last one in Bank of Spain, you will see how the characters have greatly evolved as their journey begins to wrap up in this dramatic finale.

It was also interesting to see the vulnerable and human side of Alicia Sierra, after the birth of her daughter Victoria. Between her conflict of not being as excited about her baby, being disgraced in her career, and her focus on the heist, there was a lot to delve into her character. And of course, her surprising friendship with the Professor took the cake once her character began to express herself emotionally.

With the intense up and downs, it's a rollercoaster of a ride which is typical Money Heist-style. We appreciate that the makers didn’t move away much from the process of showcasing the adrenaline-filled plot and stayed true to their intentions irrespective of fan theories and demands that came their way.

Performance-wise, everyone gave their best. Especially The Professor played by Alvaro Morte. It’s always a delight to see him bring the legendary character to life on screen, and in the finale, he didn’t disappoint. And rest of the cast and crew also did a commendable job of giving us the best ending to our favourite series. Overall, Money Heist did a smashing job in delivering the results we were looking forward to since the release of part one in September. A big cheers to the show for leaving us with only love and appreciation for it. We couldn’t have asked for a better farewell to the story that made us feel so many emotions all at once.

Let's sing it one last time: "Bella Ciao, Ciao, Ciao".
