For our Indian friends planning a trip to Morocco, a visa is absolutely pakka zaroori! Indian citizens are required to obtain a visa prior to their arrival in Morocco. This isn't a 'chalta hai' situation where you can get a visa on arrival; advance planning is key.

The visa application typically needs to be submitted through the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in New Delhi or the Consulate General in Mumbai. Make sure you have all your documents in order to avoid any 'tension' later on, as the process can take some time.

Your passport needs to be in tip-top shape, folks! It must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in Morocco. This is a pretty standard international rule, so 'dhyan rakhna' to check your expiry date well in advance.

If your passport is nearing its expiry or doesn't meet this six-month rule, it's 'zaroori' to renew it before you even think about applying for your visa. No one wants last-minute 'panga' at the immigration counter!

If you're just making a 'chhota sa' stopover in Morocco and staying within the international transit area of the airport without passing through immigration, you generally won't need a transit visa. This applies if your onward flight is directly from the same airport.

However, if your journey involves changing airports, an overnight layover, or if you need to exit the transit zone for any reason, then a transit visa might be required. It's always best to confirm with your airline and the Moroccan embassy beforehand to avoid any 'jhanjhat'.

For Indian citizens, Morocco doesn't have a separate electronic travel authorization (ETA) system like some other countries. The visa you obtain from the Moroccan embassy or consulate is your primary travel authorization.

So, once your visa is approved and stamped in your passport, consider that your 'go-ahead' signal. There's no additional 'formality' to complete beyond your visa application to get travel authorization.

Morocco launched an eVisa system in July 2022, which sounds great, but for most Indian citizens, it's 'thoda complicated hai'. Direct eVisa application is generally not available unless you hold a valid residence permit or visa from countries like the USA, UK, Schengen Area, Canada, etc.

If you meet those specific criteria, you might be eligible to apply via the official portal. Otherwise, the traditional embassy application is your 'seedha-saadha' route. The official eVisa portal (www.acces-maroc.ma) is for checking eligibility and applying if qualified.
