Samsung Galaxy S21 Review: A powerful smartphone that made it to the top - Prune
Ahead of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2022, we look back at its base version that was released at the beginning of this year. The Samsung Galaxy S21 entered the smartphone market with a bang and soon became a hit with its pioneering design, huge storage capacity, stunning display, and powerful performance. If you’re planning to buy this high-end smartphone from the popular S series, the experts at Prune have put together a review for you before you decide to drop your money on it. And this review can also help you decide whether you should skip this model and go for the upcoming S21 Ultra that will release in January 2022.
Price and availability
After a heavy discount, the Samsung Galaxy S21 is available for purchase starting from Rs 58280 (128GB + 8GB RAM) and going up to Rs 64000 (256GB + 8GB RAM). You can buy it from top online giants and the verified retail stores near and around you. This version comes in many attractive colours to choose. These are Violet, Gray, Black, White, and Pink.
Camera
The device has a premium triple-camera setup at the back that includes a 12MP primary camera, 64MP telephoto lens, and 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It manages to give great results when it comes to image quality, almost to the likes of advanced smartphones that boast exceptional photography-related features. There’s good detailing, even after using its 3x hybrid optic zoom option. Overall, it brings a subject to life despite shooting in harsh outdoor lighting conditions, which is a good performance in our view. But it does need an improvement while clicking in low-light situations as there’s very noticeable noise in the images in the darker parts.
Design
The Galaxy S21 boasts a 6.2-inch AMOLED bezel-less display with flat corners, giving the model an edge literally and figuratively. While curves would have been better for grip with its big size, the flatter edges do give it a sleeker look. Also, unlike S20, this smartphone comes with a plastic rear instead of a glass, making it less slippery during use. The model also features an ultrasonic fingerprint reader that is very responsive to touch.
Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S21 runs on an Android 11v system and is powered by the Snapdragon 888 that performs faster than android smartphones with an 865 version. So, if you’re into mobile gaming, S21 offers a smooth performance. And it’s available with a limited storage capacity of 128GB and 256GB based on the variant you purchase.
Performance
This premium flagship smartphone by Samsung has an enormous 4000mAh battery with an improved refresh rate at 60hz. While the handset can last up to 9 hours of use, we still feel that the battery life can do better. And along with 5G and 4G support, it has the usual connectivity options such as Bluetooth, GPS, mobile network, and Wi-fi.
