Is the JioPhone Next releasing on Diwali worth the hype? Let’s find out! - Prune
The festive season is bringing us a wide variety of gadgets to choose from, for every budget and specification you can think about in your mind. But there’s one smartphone that has everyone talking in the tech industry, which is the JioPhone Next, and it will be available from the day of Diwali for purchase. It's not one of the most affordably priced 4G smartphones in the world, not only you can also buy the handset on EMI, but it is also available on down payment. So is this the real budgeted 4G phone you have been looking for, let us get you some more details.
JioNext phone has been developed in partnership with Google, which is incidentally bet big monies on Jio as a company. The Operating system or OS of JioNext Phone uses the new OS system from Google.
Operating System
The new OS used by Jio Next is called Pragati OS a system jointly developed by Jio and Google. Pragati is old wine in the new bottle. In early 2017 Google announced Android Oreo and followed it up with a lightweight version of this OS and called it Android Go. The Pragati OS in Jio Next customizes the Android Go to their requirements. Since some of the brands like Nokia, Samsung, Lenovo, Alcatel, Xiaomi, and even Redmi have used the Android Go, we feel it is a superficial change and essentially it is an Android Go, and hence the Old wine remark. The Google Assistant Go now supports multiple Indian Languages. The Camera Go has Snapchat filters with Indian Tunes and Google Lens integration for translation from Indian languages.
The Phone comes bundled with Google Go, Assistant Go, Gallery Go, and Camera Go, all app borrowed from Android Go, which has been tuned to the Indian Market.
Processor
The upcoming smartphone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor, a 13MP primary camera, Translate Now feature, and a lot more. So, if this handset has piqued your interest, let our experts at Prune go over the details for you and find out whether this smartphone is worth a purchase once it hits the market.

The handset will be available for purchase from Diwali, and you can get one from any offline retail store near you. You can also purchase or register online on Jio’s website and collect your phone from the nearest Jio Mart retailer.

JioPhone Next specifications
The upcoming handset will flaunt a 5.45-inch large HD+ display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. So, for a feature phone such as the JioPhone Next, you can expect good visuals on the screen while using it. And overall, the phone looks good. If you find fingerprint marks troublesome on smartphones generally, you will like the fingerprint-resistant plastic backing on the rear end of the phone. And it is sleek and comes with popping colours such as blue.
When it comes to the next important feature, the camera, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It features a 13-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera that takes good clicks. The portraits come out sharp and aesthetic in good outdoor light, and overall, give a fine performance for a feature smartphone.
