The Shakrain Festival, also known as Poush Sankranti or the Kite Festival, is a vibrant and historic annual event primarily celebrated in the old parts of Dhaka. It marks the end of the Bengali month of Poush. The skies above Old Dhaka come alive with thousands of colorful kites of various shapes and sizes, flown competitively by participants. As evening falls, the festivities continue with dazzling fireworks displays, traditional music, and rooftop parties, creating a spectacular visual and auditory experience. It's a joyous occasion that brings communities together, showcasing the unique cultural heritage and festive spirit of Old Dhaka.
