Redmi 10 Prime review by Prune: Should you consider buying it?
Redmi 10 Prime is one of the much-awaited budget-friendly phones that has finally landed in the market this month. But is it worth purchasing it? Prune has got the answers for you.
Recently many mobile manufacturers have been trying to one-up each other by releasing handsets that are easy on the pockets. And one of them is the launch of Xiaomi’s Redmi 10 Prime which is a successor of Redmi 9 Prime. But is this new device a good buy over the others? Prune looks into the specs of this phone just for you!
Price
The price of Redmi 10 Prime has been set at Rs 12,499 (4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage). Another version of it will cost you Rs 14,499 (6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage) and is a competitive price for a phone under the 15k segment that many mobile manufacturers are trying to take over. In this price range, you will get a new processor MediaTek Helio G88 SoC. The device will also have an Extendable RAM feature which will give additional internal storage space.
Design and display
The latest handset looks good with a polycarbonate back. And it has a display that is very bright with 400 nits, an impressive factor in this price range. The display also has a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen comes along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for ultimate protection. Also, Redmi 10 Prime will be available in classic and attractive colors such as Bifrost White, Astral White, and Phantom Black.
Performance
Redmi 10 Prime comes with a 6000mAh battery which is a step up from the regular Redmi 10 that has a 5000mAh battery. This upgraded and better battery supports fast charging with a 22.5W charger and 9W reverse charging. For connectivity, there are options such as Wi-Fi 802.11, 4G, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, USB Type-C, FM radio, infrared, and a headphone jack. You will also find a fingerprint sensor on the side of the phone.
Specifications
The latest handset functions with Android 11 and has a 6.5-inch full-HD+ with 1080x2400 pixels. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Redmi 10 Prime also has octa-core MediaTek Helio G88 SoC with ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU and 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The device also offers additional storage with a 2 GB RAM expansion.
Camera
It has a decent camera which is not too bad for the price range. Redmi 10 Prime has a 50MP quad rear camera and an 8MP ultra-wide unit. It’s good for day-to-day photography for casual photography but doesn't expect more than that. Autofocus works well for standing objects but will lose out if you try to focus on moving subjects. Otherwise, the camera gives good colors and details for a casual image.
Verdict
This new phone is worth considering under the price range it comes in. While it’s not perfect by any means, it certainly gives a decent performance despite the 6 GB RAM. The display is good and bright which you will enjoy using. The camera could use improvement, but the daylight clicks are fine enough with good colors and details. The battery could also do better, but overall, it’s a good enough budget phone you can pick.
