Netflix’s first-ever annual event ‘Tudum’ was a hit! Here are all the deets you need to know: Prune
The streaming giant Netflix held its first yearly event called ‘Tudum’ on September 25, and the platform certainly gave us a good time to sit back and chill. Interestingly, the name of the event is inspired by the platform’s signature sound you hear when you press play to watch a show on it. The 3-hour virtual fan event was hosted worldwide and was a treat for us eager OTT followers as it showcased news and made announcements about upcoming original content by Netflix.
Netflix teased us with news about much-awaited new seasons of shows such as Money Heist, Stranger Things, The Witcher, Bridgerton, and Tiger King 2. If you’ve missed out on the live stream that revealed the exciting stuff, Prune is here to take you through some of the big announcements and trailers Netflix has lined up for you.
Stranger Things
Netflix takes the excitement up a notch with the latest Stranger Things season 4 teaser. It introduces us to the new locale Creel House which is connected to the new cast member Victor Reel (Robert Englund). Englund is known for his legendary roles in the horror genre, so there’s plenty of horror element to look forward to in the upcoming season. You can catch the show sometime next year on Netflix.
Money Heist
Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 was the most recent teaser at the event. The Professor is a no-show in the clip from the finale season, which leads to the gang feeling lost and hopeless over their survival game while dealing with the Bank of Spain. Now that they find themselves without their leader, they have to figure out a way to escape the bank and what they should do about the gold they have on hand.
Bridgerton
Netflix’s Tudum event released the exciting look of much-adored period drama Bridgerton season 2. It has introduced the new character Kate Sharma, who will play a feisty love interest of Daphne Bassett’s elder brother, Anthony Bridgerton. The teaser shows their relationship having a bumpy start, but the actors behind the roles promise that there will be plenty of sizzling chemistry between the two once the entire season comes out.
Tiger King 2
After the official announcement in Tudum, the sequel of Tiger King is ready to make a comeback on our screens on November 17. The hugely popular first season of the 7-part documentary was a roller coaster ride, and we can expect a lot more from big cat collectors Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin in the upcoming season as well.
The Witcher
If The Witcher managed to bewitch you with its first season, then behold its upcoming second season! But that’s not all! Netflix not only dropped a series of teasers for its sequel, but also gave us a look at its prequel Blood Origin, and announced season 3 already! Are you ready for Geralt of Rivia to return? We are!
Red Notice
The Red Notice has a powerful cast starring in it that includes Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, and Ryan Reynolds. And as expected, the event started with the new trailer of the action-heist movie, which is ready to release on Netflix on November 12. Dwayne Johnson made his presence known with a video during the event and gave us a first glimpse of the movie that is claimed to be Netflix’s biggest one yet.
Jeen-Yuhs
Netflix has revealed the first look of Jeen-Yuhs, a documentary based on the life of American rapper Kanye West which has been in the making for over 20 years spanning his career. It gives an intimate and close-up insight into the life of West, and how he made it big as a global artist starting from square one. The short clip unveiled during the event gives us a glimpse of Kanye West and Mos Def performing ‘Two Words’.
Sex Education
If you’ve been following the funny and heart-warming Sex Education series closely and binged on the latest season 3 already, which was just released last week, then there’s good news for you! Netflix confirmed during the Tudum fan event that it will bring back the popular teen drama for season 4. The third season raises bigger issues and shows us how the characters stand up for themselves against the newly-appointed authority of Moordale Secondary School.
The Sandman
We finally have the first glimpse of the much-awaited TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC comic book, The Sandman. This first short trailer of this dark fantasy is surreal and mind-blowing as it takes us into the story of king Dream Morpheus, intensely portrayed by Tom Sturridge. The clip is very short to ascertain much, but it does look like it will carry the legacy of the comics well.
Emily in Paris
If you loved the shenanigans of Emily in City of Lights in the first season, you will love her adventures in season 2 even more. Netflix has finally announced the release date during Tudum, which is just around Christmas time, December 22. The romantic comedy will give us more of Emily’s journey and how she takes on the new city with her charm and wit in the upcoming season.
The Crown
Make way for her highness as Emmy-winning series The Crown will return with more drama for season 5. Although it’s a long wait as Netflix has announced its date as being November 5 next year. Imelda Staunton, who portrays Queen Elizabeth in the series, herself announced during Tudum. Also, the long journey of this royal drama series will end with its sixth announcement, as told by the creator Peter Morgan.
