Hack alert! The Apple iPhone 13 Pro hacked in a second in China: Prune

As the buzz over the recently launched Apple iPhone 13 series in September was just dying down, a piece of alarming news broke out that placed the swanky smartphones back in the spotlight. And this time, not for good reasons. The tech giant lauded for selling its devices with high-security and top-end features have run into trouble with successful hacking attempts at a Hackathon in China.

Recently, two teams of hackers participating in the yearly international hacking competition known as Tianfu Cup managed to crack into the high privacy and security of the iPhone 13 Pro! And if this doesn’t shock you enough, it is reported that it took only a matter of seconds to jailbreak this upscale smartphone with the latest iOS 15.0.2 and gain access to it without breaking a sweat. Talk about a ‘hacktrick’!

Amongst the winners, Team Pangu effortlessly broke into the iPhone 13 Pro’s system in 1 second and took home a cash prize of $300,000. This winning team had already made a name for itself in the tech world for such record-breaking feats on Apple devices, and now, this win has brought more deserving attention on them for sure.

The second winning team of the competition was the Kunlun Lab Team, which managed to crack into the security of the Apple smartphone within just 15 seconds on the live stage, and was rewarded for it as well. They found a vulnerability in the Safari browser for iOS 15 and hacked into iPhone 13 Pro. However, it goes without saying that the teams had been preparing to do this for a long time and their efforts were well rewarded.

For now, we hear that the teams will be getting in touch with Apple soon and will be giving their valuable inputs and feedback to enhance the security of their latest gadgets, especially for the newly released iPhone13 lineup. The other tech software challenged at the competition was Google Chrome, Microsoft Exchange, and Windows 10.

Here’s to hoping that the companies will take more notice of their devices’ much-needed privacy features and sell them at money’s worth to their committed customers who look forward to their new releases every year.
