India Jumps 2 Spots Ahead in Global Mobile Speed Ranking: Ookla

India has climbed two positions in the global mobile internet speed ranking, according to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index for February 2023. The country now ranks 67th out of 140 countries in mobile internet download speeds, with an average download speed of 32.84 Mbps.

The latest ranking marks a significant improvement for India, which was ranked 69th in January 2023. The country's average download speed has also improved from 30.84 Mbps in January to 32.84 Mbps in February.

According to Ookla, India's improved ranking can be attributed to the expansion of 5G networks, increased competition among telecom operators, and the government's push for faster internet speeds.

"India's mobile internet speeds have been on an upward trend for the past few months, and we expect this trend to continue in the coming months as well," said Doug Suttles, CEO and co-founder of Ookla.

While India's mobile internet speeds have improved, the country still lags behind many other countries, including Singapore, South Korea, and Norway, which are the top three countries with the fastest mobile internet speeds.

Although India's ranking in fixed broadband speeds fell by two spots. The country ranked 79th in January and fell to 81st in February.
