Xiaomi 12 vs. iPhone 13: Let's compare the two top-end smartphones! - Prune

The flagship smartphones from Apple are known to be the best in the market. Whether it's their camera feature, hardware, or performance, they always top the charts soon after the release. And the recent iPhone 13 excelled at delivering the best to its loyal Apple users.

However, recently the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi took the matter into its own hands and went ahead to compare its recent top-of-the-line smartphone Xiaomi 12 to iPhone 13 during one of its launch events. From discussing the screen size to larger battery capacity, Xiaomi went all out in challenging the latest handset by Apple.

But does Xiaomi 12, which has recently been released in China, actually manage to compete with iPhone 13? Our tech experts at Prune have drawn a detailed comparison between the two smartphones just for you, and we leave it for you to decide which one of them wins.

Xiaomi 12 vs. iPhone 13: A detailed comparison of the handsets

Price and release date - The Apple iPhone 13 was launched in September 2021 in India, with a price tag of Rs 79900 (128GB variant). However, while the Xiaomi 12 5G has launched in China, it might be introduced in India in early April. It's likely to be priced at around Rs 42990, making it a more affordable option in comparison to the iPhone 13.

Display - The Xiaomi 12 boasts a larger screen than the one in iPhone 13, as it has a 6.27-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. And the latter has a 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED display with ceramic glass protection. When it comes to the overall screen experience, iPhone 13 is ahead of the game in this aspect. It offers better pixel density (460 PPI), pixel resolution (2532x1170), and brightness (1200 nits) as compared to the experience by Xiaomi 12. But if you want to prioritise the screen size, Xiaomi 12 is a good pick.

Camera - In the camera department, Xiaomi 12 boasts a triple camera setup, while the iPhone 13 is limited to a dual-camera setup. Xiaomi 12 camera has a 50MP primary sensor, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP telephoto lens along with a front 20MP lens for selfies and video calls.

The iPhone setup consists of a 12MP ultra-wide and wide lens and a 12MP front lens for selfies and video calls. If you prefer clicking selfies and making videos using the front lens, you can opt for Xiaomi 12. But Apple is known for exceptional camera features that are great for professionals and photography enthusiasts. And we are yet to see how Xiaomi 12 performs in comparison to the Apple smartphone once it releases in India.  

Battery - Battery has been a setback in the iPhone lineup for many years. But Apple tried to up its game regarding the battery aspect after iPhone 12 and then iPhone 13. But despite a 3240mAh battery, it cannot beat Xiaomi 12 with a 4500mAh battery. And it also comes with 67W fast charging support compared to the 23W fast charging in iPhone 13. So Xiaomi 12 wins in this category.

Processor - The Xiaomi 12 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, while iPhone 13 has Apple's A15 Bionic chipset. It is highly likely that Xiaomi 12 has a better processor in comparison and will offer high-quality performance. It is so because the latest Qualcomm chipset is making headlines the way it runs the devices, and it provides an enhanced GPU performance.
